Turkey – An Instant Passport for Property and Business Owners
Turkey offers an instant passport if you buy real estate in the country. Th purchase price must be at least $250,000. You have to keep the property for at least three years before you sell it. This will be notarised in the title deed.
Turkey also offers an instant passport if you start a business employing 50 people or if you make a bank deposit of $500,000.
Turkey is a desirable choice because you can buy any property. There aren’t any restrictions on what kind of property you can buy. It may prove to be a sound investment. If you can sell at a profit after 3 years, you’ll have been paid to become a Turkish citizen.
There are no residence requirements. You can rent your property out if you want.

St Kitts and Nevis – The First of the Instant Citizenship Countries
St Kitts was one of the first of the Caribbean Islands to offer citizenship by investment back in 1984. This has become one of the biggest revenue generators for the St Kitts government.
If you donate $150,000 to the St Kitts government, you should have a passport in around 3 months. Alternatively, you can buy an approved property for $400,000. These tend to be overpriced developments which you’re unlikely to be able to re-sell for the purchase price. You have to keep it for 5 years.
The St Kitts and Nevis passport offers good visa-free travel, including all of the European Union and the United Kingdom.
Vanuatu – Exchange Bitcoin for Citizenship
Vanuatu is a chain of islands in the southwest Pacific, about 1,800km east of Australia. Vanuatu is unique amongst instant citizenship countries as it accepts payment in Bitcoin. A Vanuatu citizenship costs $130,000 for a single applicant. There are no income taxes in Vanuatu. The passport offers visa-free access to 136 countries including the EU, the UK, and Singapore.
The Vanuatu passport is one of the fastest available with an average processing time of only 45 days after you’ve submitted your documents.
Grenada – Visa Free Access to Russia
Grenada is another of the Caribbean instant citizenship countries. Like other Caribbean instant citizenship programs, you can choose to donate $150,000 to the Grenada government or buy an approved property for at least $350,000.
As well as offering visa-free access to the UK and the EU, Grenada offers visa-free access to Russia too.
If your documents are in order, you should be able to secure a Grenada passport in 90 days.
Malta – An EU Passport in 12 Months
Malta is the best almost instant passport if you can afford it. Up until 2020, Malta was one of the best instant citizenship countries. You could invest €600,000 and get instant citizenship. They closed the original program in 2020 and relaunched it to include a residency requirement of 12 months. Now you must invest €750,000 and make a €10,000 charitable donation too.
But if you have the money and don’t mind spending a few months in Malta you’ll end up with an Eu passport and visa-free access to 186 countries including the USA, UK, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. This is something none of the other programs can offer.
However, if you’re not in such a hurry you can get the same benefits in Portugal for a much lower cost with their golden visa program. The downside is you need to wait 5 years for citizenship.
